Petri dish & plaque detection

Are you having trouble with Petri dish or plaque detection in OnePetri? Here are some tips and tricks to help you get more consistent results:

• Wherever possible, make sure that your Petri dishes are placed against a dark surface with a solid (and not patterned) background and not up against the ceiling, light, or window.
• Try to avoid glare or significant light reflections on the Petri dishes when taking images for analysis, it may help to remove the lid and image from the top.
• When working with small plaques, try to maximize the Petri dish’s relative area in the image by moving your device as close to the dish as possible before taking a photo.
• Try to keep the number of Petri dishes per image to between 1 and 3. Any more than that could lead to reduction of plaque counts.
